Insurance that feels like modern fintech
Rubber Ring is a new UK insurance provider with a simple aim: make specialist cover accessible, affordable and hassle-free. We've partnered with them to bring that vision to life, building a digital-first insurance platform on AWS that makes buying cover and making a claim feel more like modern fintech than traditional insurance.
Launching with tyre insurance, the platform delivers an app-like, chat-based quote and claims experience, secure self-service accounts, and automated renewals - all designed to be friendly, clear and built around the customer.
Rubber Ring: specialist insurance, reimagined
Rubber Ring is on a mission to make everyday insurance less bureaucratic. Their first product is specialist tyre insurance, offered with the same promise that runs through everything they do: intelligent cover backed by superior service, so customers can worry less and live more.
The challenge: a modern, digital-first platform
To stand out in a competitive market, Rubber Ring needed more than traditional policy management. They needed:
- An intuitive, conversational way to gather quote information.
- A seamless self-service account system for managing policies.
- Efficient claims handling with clear communication.
- Automated renewal reminders and one-click renewals.
- A secure, scalable, cost-efficient platform to grow with the business.
Without a platform that makes buying and claiming genuinely easy, a new entrant risks blending into a crowded market - or losing customers to friction at exactly the moments that matter most.
An app-like Progressive Web App
We've built Rubber Ring's customer platform as an installable Progressive Web App (PWA): an app-like experience delivered straight from the web, with no app-store friction. At its heart is a guided, chat-based flow that gathers what's needed for a quote or a claim step by step - a conversational experience that makes insurance feel approachable rather than bureaucratic. Behind it sits a secure account area for managing policies, documents and renewals.
Why AWS
We chose AWS to give a young insurance business the scalability, security and pay-as-you-go economics it needs from day one. The platform runs serverless, so it scales automatically with demand - handling peaks during campaigns without paying for idle capacity - while keeping sensitive customer and policy data secure inside a private, well-guarded network.
- Serverless compute (AWS Lambda): the application runs on demand with no servers to manage, scaling seamlessly with traffic.
- Amazon API Gateway & CloudFront: secure, fast delivery of the app and its API to customers.
- Managed relational database (Amazon RDS): durable, secure storage for policies and customer data within a private network.
- Amazon S3: reliable storage for documents and assets.
- Automated document generation: policy documents produced on the fly as PDFs.
- Transactional email & secure payments: reliable customer communications and card payments, built into the journey.
- Administration tooling: a dedicated admin area for the Rubber Ring team to manage policies, customers and claims.
Why Rubber Ring chose Si Novi
Rubber Ring chose Si Novi for our track record building secure, serverless applications on AWS, and for a product-minded, collaborative approach that suits a startup finding its feet. We've worked closely with them from concept through to launch, as genuine technology partners rather than a transactional vendor - and that close relationship means we understand their customers, their market and their goals, putting us in a strong position to keep evolving the platform as the business grows.
